Below are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions regarding property taxes

How do I locate my current account balance?

You can search for property tax accounts by clicking *Here* and then selecting the Tax Summary Report which provides the current account balance as of a specific date. You can also call our office at 541-475-4458 to inquire about balance owing. 

How do I pay my Property Taxes?

Property taxes can be paid in person at our office at 66 SE D St. Suite E,  paid via mail, paid via phone at 1-877-865-0432 or paid online by clicking *Here*. Payments made via credit/debit cards are subject to additional transactional fees.

I lost/did not receive my tax statement, how can I get another one?

Tax statements are public record and can be found on our website *Here*. You can also request a printed copy from our office at 66 S.E. "D" Street, Suite E, Madras, OR 97741 by calling 541-475-4458. All Jefferson County property owners receive a tax statement. If you have not received a tax statement by Novembert 1st, please call the our office to request a copy.

I missed the Tax Due Date, what penalties will I have?

The option to receive the 2% or 3% discount is lost and interest is charged on property tax at the rate of 16% annually, or 1.33% per month on delinquent taxes. The interest posts to the account on the 16th of each month.

Can I pay my taxes before I receive my bill?

Per State Administrative Rule 150-311-0260 Jefferson County is not legally able to collect or accept payments until the tax roll has been certified.  This usually happens the second week of October.  You may contact our office to see if the roll has been certified; once it has you may send payment.

When will the tax statement be mailed?

Tax Statements are mailed out no later than October 25th. If a taxpayer chooses to make trimester payments, our office will mail trimester statements approximately 3 weeks before the due dates of February 15th and May 15th.

Can I pay my taxes with a credit card?

Yes, Jefferson County contracts with Point & Pay, LLC a third party vendor, to process credit cards or Echeck payments.  If you have your account number(s), you can access Point & Pay's website by clicking here Tax Payment, or by calling 1-877-865-0432. Fees apply (see details here ).
